Overview
Bonemold is the most iconic armor set in Morrowind. It's medium armor, and it's one of only two complete medium sets in the base game. The other is Orcish. You get a helmet, cuirass, two pauldrons, two bracers, greaves, boots and a shield.
I think it's also one of the coolest-looking sets in the game, and it's decent protection for the early game. It should carry you a good way in. The numbers are modest, though. Most pieces rate 15, with the helm at 18 and the cuirass at 16. Orcish is 30 per piece and Indoril Armor is 45, and the full Bonemold set weighs 91.4.
The set sits in a guard tower in Ald'Ruhn, and the guard there will arrest you if he sees you take it.

Where to Get It
All of it is in one place: Guard Tower 2 in Ald'ruhn.
Getting to Ald'ruhn
If you've never been, take the Silt Strider from Balmora. Guard Tower 2 is right by the Silt Strider.

Inside Guard Tower 2
Step inside the tower. You'll most likely get greeted by a guard. Wait a few seconds until he walks down the steps, so he doesn't catch you stealing.
On the table to your right is a Bonemold helmet and both pauldrons. Grab the helmet.

The Crate
The rest of the set is in the crate all the way at the back, on the bottom. Inside you'll find the remaining pieces, including two shields.

Who It's For / Tips & Things to Know
Best for: Warriors who want a full set early, with no gold spent and no quest to run. It's a classic look, and you can wear all of it from day one.
Armor rating context: At 15 to 18 per piece, Bonemold sits well below Orcish (30), Adamantium (40), Indoril (45) and Gold Armor (60). Treat it as a set to start with, and swap pieces out as you find better ones.
Enchanting: The shield has the best capacity at 40, followed by the helm at 20 and the bracers at 16 each. The pauldrons, greaves and boots are poor enchanting slots.
Weight: The full set weighs 91.4, and the cuirass (24), boots (16) and greaves (13.4) make up most of it.
Variants and a better helm: Bonemold has house variants called Armun-An and Gah-Julan, with near-identical stats. The Redoran Master Helm, which UESP says can be looted from the Under Skar manors in Ald'ruhn, rates 45 with 22.5 enchant and beats every other Bonemold helm.
