Overview

Indoril Armor is the sacred armor of the Ordinators, the military order that serves the Tribunal Temple. You've almost certainly seen it before — every Ordinator guard in Vivec is wearing it. The armor takes its name from House Indoril, the house from which most Ordinators hail.

The set is medium armor and covers most of your body — helmet, cuirass, left and right pauldrons, left and right gauntlets, boots, and shield. One notable gap: there are no Indoril greaves in the base game. Orcish greaves are the standard substitute and blend in well enough.

Compared to other medium armor sets, Indoril offers higher protection than Orcish Armor and is significantly easier to obtain than Royal Guard Armor, making it arguably the strongest medium armor available in the base game.

One thing to know before you commit to wearing this set: the helmet and cuirass are flagged as part of the Ordinator uniform. Talking to an Ordinator while wearing either piece will turn every Ordinator in the game permanently hostile toward you — so plan around that if you intend to spend time in Vivec or Ghostgate.

Where to Get Each Piece

All pieces of the Indoril set can be obtained from a single source: the corpse of Feril Salmyn outside Kogoruhn (see the level 1 method below). Individual pieces can also be looted from Ordinator NPCs throughout Vvardenfell, or purchased from the game's only Indoril merchant.

Helmet

Feril Salmyn (Kogoruhn) — Part of the full set on the dead Ordinator outside Kogoruhn. The most accessible early-game source.

Ordinators — Any Ordinator guard is wearing one. You'll need to get them hostile and kill them — taunting works if you don't want a bounty.

Faras Thirano (Ghostgate, Tower of Dawn, Lower Level) — The only merchant in the game who sells Indoril helmets.

Cuirass

Feril Salmyn (Kogoruhn) — Same corpse as the rest of the set.

Ordinators — Looted from any Ordinator you kill.

Faras Thirano (Ghostgate) — Also sells the cuirass.

Quest reward — Can be obtained by completing the Mysterious Killings in Vivec quest.

Left & Right Pauldrons

Feril Salmyn (Kogoruhn) — Both pauldrons are on the corpse.

Ordinators — Found on Ordinator NPCs throughout Vvardenfell.

Faras Thirano (Ghostgate) — Sold at the Tower of Dawn.

Left & Right Gauntlets

Feril Salmyn (Kogoruhn) — Both gauntlets on the corpse.

Ordinators — Worn by Ordinator NPCs throughout Vvardenfell.

Boots

Feril Salmyn (Kogoruhn) — Part of the full set.

Ordinators — Looted from Ordinator NPCs.

Shield

Feril Salmyn (Kogoruhn) — Included in the full set on the corpse.

Ordinators — Carried by Ordinator NPCs.

How to Get a Full Set at Level 1

The fastest way to get a complete set of Indoril armor is to head to Kogoruhn and find a dead Ordinator named Feril Salmyn waiting outside — full set still on him, no quest required. You can do this from the very start of the game.

Getting There

Start in Maar Gaan. If you haven't been, take the Silt Strider from Balmora to Ald'ruhn, then catch another one to Maar Gaan.

From the Maar Gaan Silt Strider, head east until you spot a house on your left — Helene's Hut. Run past it and look for a trail heading north into the mountains. Follow it. The trip is mostly safe; a few rats and cliff racers might cross your path, but nothing that should give you much trouble even at level 1.

Keep heading north until the trail forks. Turn right and follow the mountain path through. It opens up ahead — when you see a strange rock formation, you're on track. From there, go straight a short distance, then turn east. Follow the trail a little longer and Kogoruhn will come into view.

At Kogoruhn

Run up the steps. There are usually a couple of enemies around — a rat, a cliff racer, maybe a Dreamer. Nothing too dangerous, but if you're fresh off the boat bring a few potions just in case.

Feril Salmyn's corpse is on the ground outside the ruins. Take everything on him — that's a full set of Indoril armor.

Who It's For / Tips & Things to Know

Best for: Combat-oriented builds that want strong medium armor without the punishing carry weight of Daedric. If you want to build a capable warrior early in the game without spending hours grinding for gear, Indoril is hard to beat. It also happens to be one of the better-looking sets in the game — the gold-leaf detailing on the pauldrons and helm has a distinct Dunmer style that holds up throughout a full playthrough.

Armor rating context: Each piece sits at 45 armor rating, putting it slightly below Glass (50 per piece) — the best light armor set. The trade-off is that Indoril is far easier to obtain early, and with no expansions installed it's the best medium set available. Royal Guard Armor from the Tribunal DLC eventually surpasses it.

No greaves: Orcish greaves are the standard pick to fill the gap. Some players use Dreugh greaves instead.

The Ordinator situation: The helmet and cuirass are the two pieces to watch. Swap them out before talking to any Ordinator in Vivec or Ghostgate and you won't have any problems. The rest of the set is fine to wear anywhere.
